Meike van Dam

After returning to New Zealand in 2005 I made Nelson, in the South Island, my home and base for my own jewellery business.
Seeking to create unique hand made pieces of jewellery that are both stylish and wearable, I make a broad range of rings, pendants, earrings and necklaces in silver and gold. I typically incorporate precious stones in most of my pieces, often in combination with natural materials such as pearls, New Zealand paua shell and wood (both native and exotic).
I am continually exploring new techniques, and am inspired by the colours, forms, patterns and textures of the beautiful natural environment of the South Island. I strive for balance in my work, rather than mere symmetry, and seek to create pieces which are elegant, without being overly complex.
